Kiri's school has been practising for months to win the Māori cultural competition. She has been entrusted with the honour of doing the double long poi, the butterfly, the purerehua. She must pull off the move in order for them to win, but this is not easy when she is struggling with a pregnancy that she has to abort the following day.
Renae Maihi's film debut. This film was selected for the imagineNATIVE Film Festival Spotlight on Māori film in Toronto and premiered at the NZ International Film Festival.
The lead actress Jahna Batt won the 'Best Actress' award at the Wairoa Māori Film Festival in 2012.
